About Our Staff

Dr. Paul Dean is Board Certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS). After completing veterinary school he completed a three-year surgical residency, which included specific training, caseloads and research followed by rigorous testing administered by ACVS. This commitment to surgical excellence enables him to be called a surgical specialist.

Dr. Paul W. Dean, Owner

After receiving his DVM from Texas A&M University in 1981, Dr. Dean completed a one-year internship and a three-year surgery residency-training program at The Ohio State University under the supervision of ACVS Diplomats. Dr. Dean also completed a Masters in Veterinary Clinical Science during his tenure at Ohio State. His surgical training and residency includes all domestic animal species. In fact, he even has experience with zoo animal medicine as a result of primary and referred surgery from the Columbus Zoo. Following Board Certification, Dr. Dean taught and performed surgery at Texas A&M University for four years before establishing his own surgical referral hospital in 1990. This commitment to training after veterinary school and successful completion of Board Certification in 1986 qualifies him as a specialist in veterinary surgery. Dr. Dean enjoys flying radio controlled (RC) airplanes, shooting long-range rifles and serving at his local church, where he and Gayle are involved in various ministries including discipleship, evangelism and missions. The have two grown daughters, Michelle and Rachel.

Gayle

Gayle Dean, Practice Manager

A 1979 Graduate of Texas Christian University with a B.S. in Advertising & Public Relations, Gayle says she was born with “purple blood”. Her Grandfather, both parents, and two sisters attended T.C.U. and her father John M. Grimland served on T.C.U.’s Board of Trustees.

It is a dream come true to live and work in Cowtown. Gayle has worked with husband Paul in his veterinary practice for most of their 36 years of marriage. She and her dog, Remington, have recently joined Baylor Scott & White Animal Assisted Therapy team as volunteers. You may see them at local hospitals visiting with patients and staff. She and Dr. Dean also enjoy two cats, Bob and Samantha.

Candy-Langford

Candy Langford, Head Surgical Assistant

A native of SLPC, Mexico, Candy Langford assisted Dr. Dean in surgery for 30 years. She is his second set of hands and eyes and is more like family to the Deans than an employee. Her strong work ethic, dedication to the patients and gentle nature are her strengths. Candy recently adopted a patient who needed a special home like hers.

Cindi Vazquez, Medical Assistant/Patient Records

Born and raised in Fort Worth, Cindi’s professionalism and attention to detail make her an asset to the practice and owners alike. Prior to joining FWVS in 2012, Cindi worked at a medical transcription company. She and husband, Juan are “foodies” and enjoy family time with their daughter and cocker spaniel, Riley.

Martin Sanchez, Practice Manager

Martin has over 20 years experience working with veterinarians, owners and their pets. He and Dr. Dean share mentor and friend, Dr. Tom Green of Midland. Martin and his wife Kathy have three grown children. He is an avid fisherman and is master to pets, Foxy Roxy and Harvey Dent.

Gabby Martinez, Veterinary Technician

Born and raised in Fort Worth, Gabby’s gentle and calm nature make owners and pets feel comfortable immediately. Prior to joining our team, she was a Pet Pal at The Parc. Gabby is currently attending TCC and hopes to be a diagnostic medical sonographer in the near future. She has both a Lab and Huskey who keep her busy afterhours.

Rachel Bass, Kennel Technician

It’s no wonder Rachel efficiently manages the kennel at FWVS. At home she has “way too many pets”. In fact there are seven pets in her household including reptiles, dogs and rats. Rachel is currently enrolled in The Penn Foster Veterinary Tech Associates Program and enjoys joggin, hiking and playing video games.

Katelyn DeWitt, Client Care Coordinator

The first voice you hear when you call FWVS is likely Katelyn’s. Prior to joining our team, she worked for a general surgeon. Katelyn c competes in barrel racing and has 20-30 youth students under her supervision for lessons. She also has numerous pets including two cats, two dogs and at least two horses. Katelyn is studying to become a counselor.

Deanna Massengill, Lead Client Care Coordinator

A Texan through and through, Deanna spent three years in Virginia after graduating high school where she managed a Pet Resort and was Supervisor of Client Services at a Veterinary Hospital. FWVS is thankful she missed friends and family and returned home. After hours, she enjoys family, motocross and pets. She is currently pursuing her Associates in Business at TCC.
