About Our Staff

Dr. Paul Dean is Board Certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS). After completing veterinary school he completed a three-year surgical residency, which included specific training, caseloads and research followed by rigorous testing administered by ACVS. This commitment to surgical excellence enables him to be called a surgical specialist.

After receiving his DVM from Texas A&M University in 1981, Dr. Dean completed a one-year internship and a three-year surgery residency-training program at The Ohio State University under the supervision of ACVS Diplomats. Dr. Dean also completed a Masters in Veterinary Clinical Science during his tenure at Ohio State. His surgical training and residency

includes all domestic animal species. In fact, he even has experience with zoo animal medicine as a result of primary and referred surgery from the Columbus Zoo. Following Board Certification, Dr. Dean taught and performed surgery at Texas A&M University for four years before establishing his own surgical referral hospital in 1990. This commitment to training after veterinary school and successful completion of Board Certification in 1986 qualifies him as a specialist in veterinary surgery. Dr. Dean enjoys flying radio controlled (RC) airplanes, shooting long-range rifles and serving at his local church, where he and Gayle are involved in various ministries including discipleship, evangelism and missions. The have two grown daughters, Michelle and Rachel and one precious granddaughter, Blair.

Gayle

Gayle Dean, Owner

A 1979 Graduate of Texas Christian University with a B.S. in Advertising & Public Relations, Gayle says she was born with “purple blood”. Her Grandfather, both parents, and two sisters attended T.C.U. and her father John M. Grimland served on T.C.U.’s Board of Trustees.

Living and working in Cowtown is a dream come true for The Deans. Although, they both grew up in Midland, Fort Worth is where they met and dated. Gayle has assisted her husband Paul in his veterinary practice for most of their 40 years of marriage. She and her dog, Remington, volunteer at All Saints with the Baylor Scott & White Animal Assisted Therapy team where she also serves on the Women’s Health Council. She is an active member of the Cowtown Tri-Delta Alumnae. She and Dr. Dean also enjoy two cats, Bob and Samantha.

Candy-Langford

Candy Langford, Head Surgical Technician

A native of SLPC, Mexico, Candy Langford assisted Dr. Dean in surgery for 30 years. She is his second set of hands and eyes and is more like family to the Deans than an employee. Her strong work ethic, dedication to the patients and gentle nature are her strengths. Candy recently adopted a patient who needed a special home like hers.

Cindi-Vasquez

Cindi Vazquez, Medical Records

Born and raised in Fort Worth, Cindi’s professionalism and attention to detail make her an asset to the practice and owners alike. Prior to joining FWVS in 2012, Cindi worked at a medical transcription company. She and husband, Juan are “foodies” and enjoy family time outdoors with their dogs, Riley and Phoenix.

Martin Sanchez, Practice Manager

Martin has over 20 years experience working with veterinarians, owners and their pets. He and Dr. Dean share mentor and friend, Dr. Tom Green of Midland. Martin and his wife Kathy have three grown children. He is an avid fisherman and is master to pets, Foxy Roxy and Harvey Dent.

Spencer Duckworth, Veterinary Technician

If you appreciate dad jokes, Spencer is your guy! He keeps the staff, owners and pets all smiling. Prior to joining, FWVS Spencer worked as the lead technician at a hybrid day practice emergency clinic. Spencer is currently enrolled in Penn Foster working towards his Licensed Veterinary Technician certification. After hours, he enjoys time with his wife, two girls and his cat, Meili.

Tijerina-Gharbi

Carly Tijerina-Gharbi, Client Care Coordinator

The first voice you will hear when calling our practice is sweet Carly, our resident cat lady. She has six cats, one in almost every color as well as a pet tarantula and one dog. Carly is currently attending Dallas Community College working towards an Associates of Animal Science Degree and her Veterinary Technician licensing.

Leslie-Garcia

Leslie Garcia, Veterinary Technician

A Caliifornia native, Leslie Garcia’s gentle quiet spirit is a perfect compliment to our team. After hours she is a competitive country and western dancer. She also enjoys traveling to other cities in Texas and in the United States as well as spending time with dogs Kimber and Bear and her pet leopard gecko, Richard.

Aryelle-Browne

Aryelle Browne, Kennel Technician/Vet Assistant

If you could wrap up efficiency, compassion, and thoughtfulness in one package it would be Aryelle. A native Texan, Aryelle has a BS Degree in Animal Biology from Texas A&M Corpus Christi. She was a kennel tech at general veterinary practice for 4 years prior to joining our team. Aryelle manages our kennel, all post op-care and physical therapy and more. If she could have a pet, it would be an English Labrador Retriever.
